Introduction

Peppol Network

Peppol (Pan European Public Procurement Online) is a global standard for the "document specifications," "operational rules," and "network" used to exchange electronic documents such as invoices over a network. For more details about the Peppol Network, please refer to What is Peppol?.

As you read through the following documents, it is important to understand the following terminology and services related to the Peppol Network:

  • Peppol ID (Peppol Participant Identifiers): An ID used to uniquely identify the sender or receiver of digital invoices within the Peppol Network.
  • Access Point: As shown in the diagram below, an Access Point is a gateway for sending and receiving digital invoices.
  • Service Metadata Publisher (SMP): A registry in the Peppol Network that stores metadata about the recipients of digital invoices, the types of documents they can receive, and the Access Points they are associated with.
  • Service Metadata Locator (SML): A service that enables dynamic discovery of the destination for sending and receiving digital invoices. It is centrally managed by OpenPeppol.

The following diagrams provide a brief explanation of the Peppol system and what Money Forward Cloud Peppol Connect is.
